NYC Haiti was founded in Brooklyn in 1989 by current manager Gregory Mervilus, who was a 16-year-old high school student then. Young Mervilus’ goal was to bring his fellow young Haitian soccer players together. Since Mervilus was only a high school student, he handed things over to the Haitian elders in the community to manage the team financially. The club was known as Haitian All-Stars then. The first league the Haitian diasporas competed in was the El Salvador League, which they won their first three seasons.

After high school, when Mervilus started working he took over the managerial duty of the club from the elders. The team was re-named NYC Haiti in 2010 after joining the Cosmos Copa. They won the Cosmos Copa in 2012 by defeating NYC Poland 2-1 in the final—their most notable achievement.

The following year the club lifted another trophy: the USSL International Cup, which they also won in 2016 by blanking Grenada 2-0.

The team had a plethora of former or current Haitian internationals and Ligue Haitienne players over the years. Some of the most prominent players that competed for NYC Haiti are current Haiti national team star forward and Ligue 1 player, Jeff Louis, ex- Haiti national team’s number one keeper, Frandy Montrevil (who’s playing for the club now), and Haiti national team’s winger Charles Herold Junior.

The Brooklyn-based club has its own clothing line. And with six trophies from three leagues in their cabinet, the club will look to add the Copa de Naciones to their collection as they will compete in the competition for the first time starting on August 18th, 2017.
