Ricardo Charles' seventh-minute goal granted NYC Haiti a 1-0 win over Saint Vincent and Grenadines on Sunday evening at Old Boys and Girls High School.

This win pushes the Haitian diasporas to a two-game winning streak.

Les Grenadiers' central midfielder Evens Jean took the first shot of the game in the sixth minute as he struck the ball from about 20 yards out just over the net.

Haiti netted the opener the next minute when Charles looped Marvens Dominique's cross in the net--St. Vincent's keeper was off his line.

SVG nearly equalized in the ninth minute. St. Vincent's number 10's deflected shot from inside the box looked as if it was making its way in the net but keeper Johnny Joseph read the trajectory of the ball and hopped on his right to make a save.

Charles almost doubled his side's lead four minutes inside the second half when he steered an uncontested shot inside the 18 just inches away from the bottom left corner of the net.

St. Vincent's number 10 threatened NYC Haiti again with an equalizer in the 59th minute. The Vincentian dribbled past four Haitian players before sending a low-cross in from the right. But fortunately for the International FGSL champions, keeper Joseph came off his line to clear the ball.

NYC Haiti displayed an exquisite counter attack two minutes later but was unable to score from it. Yvener Guerrier unleashed a through ball down the left wing to Dominique, who pushed the ball to Charles in the box. The Haitian attacker took a couple of touches before firing a shot, that was blocked by a SVG defender.

Charles had yet another chance to score a brace when he brought down Jean's long ball before pounding a shot on target, which St. Vincent's keeper tallied his third and last save of the game from.

Four key notes

1. Clean sheet without their number one keeper and two starting defenders: NYC Haiti racked a clean sheet despite playing without their first keeper, Frandy Montrevil, who picked up a red card last game, and starting defenders Rolin Andre (captain) and Jean-Ismael Voltaire.

2. Charles also scored against St. Vincent in a professional game: Ricardo Charles netted against St. Vincent with Haiti's international team in the Caribbean Cup on April 11th, 2010.

3. NYC Haiti players have a knack for scoring in their season debut: Charles and all of Haiti's scorers of this campaign scored in their first game of the season.

4. Les Grenadiers' two-game winning run is their first victory streak of the season.
